Twin lakes is located in Solok Regency, West Sumatera Indonesia . It lies on the Trans-Sumatra Highway, 64 kilometers from Padang and 76 kilometers from Bukittinggi. It is called as twin lakes as there are two lakes that are close each other. They are "danau diatas" (upper lake) and "danau dibawah" (lower lake). Danau diatas has 1.720 hectare area, while danau dibawah has 1.600 hectare area.
There is a unique term for upper lake and lower lake, in which actually the position of lower lake is higher than upper lake.
