Kofu City

Kofu is the capital city of  Yamanashi Perfecture, Japan. The city is the hometown of Takeda Shingen Ko, the renowned general of the civil war period in the 16th century. Kofu City was flourished as a castle town, posting station and commercial center.

Kofu is famous as one of the leading jewelers' towns in the world, with tradition of craftsmanship and polishing technique of precious stones.

Recently, we visited the Kofu City in the end of October. When we arrived in the station, we can get information about tourism either from tourist information or from information boards that are placed in front of the Station. There are many hotels around the station with the cheap price. As a small city, the area around station is convinience because we can found hotels and restaurants easily.  So, if you visit this place just stay in the area around Kofu Station.

Kofu is surrounded by many mountains, one of them is the famous Mount Fuji, so it is not suprising that in this city there are many hotsprings.

The unique food in Kofu city is a soup that is called Hoto pasta.. It is made from wheat flour with a warm water, roll out and cut in wider pasta. The pasta is not boiled but cooked with vegetables in miso soup. Hoto is famous as the meal in Takeda army at the front of the battlefield.
